I don't know what I want so how can I define a goal?

‘I don’t know what I want – so how can I define a goal?

I hear this quite a lot. And it varies from a vague sense of not knowing to full on frustration and ‘How the hell can coaching help with that?’

Today this fell into my inbox (from the fabulous Thoughts from the Universe – more of that later)

The only way to get what you really want is to know what you really want.

The only way to know what you really want is to know yourself. The only way to know yourself is to be yourself.

It seems to me that the vagueness and the frustration can both stem from the same thing. Not being yourself. So in practical, real terms how do you go about being yourself?

Here are a few initial thoughts.

Who chooses what you do on a daily basis?

What is necessary for you to do on a daily basis and how do you feel about it?

What do you love and like doing? How much of your day is spent on this?

Just before embarking on a task or any kind of activity during your day preface it with; ‘I’m doing this because it matters.’ This will tell you a lot.

To get to heart of what matters and look at strategies and techniques to find what you really want, do get in touch.
