The ten: ten: ten!

It's getting close to the busy time of the year and my word are we being bombarded by stuff to do and things to buy and people to be!

It's also a time when we might make a mistake, an omission, send an email to the wrong person/group...
Often when this happens we re-run the scenario and go round and round in circles making the mistake seem a lot worse than it actually is.
As a coach I don't think we need to be quite so hard on ourselves. We are human - more on that below.*
Here's a quick and effective trick as to how to manage when things start going a bit haywire. It is - in my opinion - a gem!
So consider this- the 10:10:10 strategy.
Firstly find a bit of space and allow yourself a few minutes. This is important
Ask yourself:
Will this still matter in ten minutes?
Will this still matter in ten days?
Will this still matter in 10 weeks?
You need to allow yourself time to consider the future and not be disturbed.
It is most likely that it will not matter.
It will have been forgotten.
Well behind you.
And then you can thank yourself for making a few minutes to do this in order to stop spending several hours in the anxious, worry and re-run state.
In the above example I have given minutes, days, weeks as a time frame. However you may find hours, months or years more helpful to consider.
Good luck!
Nicola
*I've been thinking about AI quite a bit recently. Having embraced it in many forms, I find that it can help me do things much faster and save time. Although I'm not sure what we do with the 'extra' time we gain from having used it? Is anyone less busy that they were?
So what I have committed to here on my blogs is that I will not be using AI to generate any of them. I feel I can communicate well using my own voice.
I am happy with 'not perfect.' Occasionally I make a mistake editing something - thankfully I can come straight back to the post and make any necessary adjustments.
This is the authentic me.
The unpolished version.
The human version
